About Tutima Glashütte
Tutima Glashütte, honoured with the award ‘Manufacture of the Year 2018’, was founded 1927 in Glashütte. The family owned company has dedicated its
engineering creativity to the development of highly functional watches: robust, precise, reliable.
The History of Tutima Glashütte
The history began in 1927 in Glashütte, a legendary watchmaking town in Germany with a historical highlight: The Tutima Fliegerchronograph first took off on its high flight in 1941 – and went on to become a ticking legend. The father of the brand’s success is Dr. Ernst Kurtz, a pioneer and a visionary.
Completely destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt in Lower Saxony in 1951, the company continued its tradition of fabricating mechanical timepieces that set new standards for functionality, robustness and precision. The story came full circle in 2011 when Tutima – now under Mr. Dieter Delecate – , returned to its original hometown. The family-run business celebrated the resumption of manufacturing at the place of its founding by releasing the “Hommage”, the first authentic made-in-Glashütte minute repeater.
