Franck Muller defies the codes of the Haute Horlogerie with the presentation of his exclusive masterpiece: the Skafander. Coming in the emblematic, iconic and now renowned tonneau shape, the Skafander travels through the marine depths in order to offer excellence and performance to quality and novelties lovers.
Aside from standard scuba diving apparatus that allows for casual to relative deepwater diving, there was one major piece of equipment that broke down the barriers of conventional human diving limits – the Skafander. Being the first protective full-pressure suit created in the 1930s for navy divers, the Skafander was an essential contraption for deep sea exploration. Over the years, it evolved from a dive suit to a space suit, but its intrinsic function remained the same – to enable ease of operation while keeping the diver alive with confidence.
Just as the original Skafander evolved into a space suit and eliminated the bothersome need to bite down on a mouth piece with goggles strapped tightly over ones head, the Franck Muller Skafander has been bestowed with a tonneau-shaped case as well as an innovative solution to adjust the dive bezel. This is a refreshing departure from round diver timepieces, and the ingenious new pusher system to advance the inner bezel is a first of its kind.
Housed at 8 and 10 o’clock are two pushers that advance the inner bezel by 1 minute and 5 minute intervals respectively. For example, assuming the inner bezel is at the default position, to line up the minute scale of the inner bezel to the minute hand at say, the 17 minute position, one just needs to depress the pusher at 10 o’clock 3 times, and the pusher at 8 o’clock 2 times. After alignment, inadvertent pusher pressing is prevented by way of activating a safety lock at 9 o’clock.
For less extreme deep sea diving endeavours, the Franck Muller Skafander diver’s watch is the paramount piece of equipment that can spell the difference between life and death. With its brilliant setting system, one can gallantly venture into dive explorations. Shop the Franck Muller Skafander collection now.
