Wrapped in high-polished stainless steel, the trademark tonneau-shaped Vanguard case may be a generous 45mm wide but offers good wrist ergonomics thanks its cogitatively curved case back. Upon glancing at its dial, the perfect balance of subtle racing themes meets the eyes with red, black and white, redolent of a auto racing vehicle blasting towards the end-of-race checkered flag.
If this latent ardent power doesn’t manage to charge the wearer up, just raise and rotate your forearm, and the anticipation of pulling on leather racing gloves with ventilation holes moments before the big race should exhilarate. Fittingly, the snug black rubber strap is supplemented with a top layer of perforated calf leather, fastened by 2 lines of red stitching, infusing vintage racing flavour.
The sides of the emblematic Vanguard case are fortified by an aluminium compound that is applied extensively in the aeronautical and automotive racing industries – ERGAL. Imbued for its high mechanical strength to weight ratio, ERGAL is used to forge ancillary parts such as screws and brake pads, and in this case, takes the engineered form of red crown guards and side case insert.
Its red raised inner bezel, as well as the unusual even-numbered applied Arabic indices further enhance the depth perception of the dial. As a finishing touch, the red-tipped seconds hand adds just the right dash of ardour to the highly-legible dial.
Whether clad in a suit or relaxing in jeans, the sleek chicness of the sporty three-piece case design affords a confident and comfortable wearing experience and is safely secured to the wrist by a stainless steel deployant buckle.
