TAG Heuer is delighted to introduce the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 – a pair of solid 18-karat-gold watches powered by the new manufacture Calibre TH31-00, which delivers an 80-hour power reserve and a five-year extended warranty – into the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional collection.
The two new references add a striking, high-end twist to the Swiss company’s family of high-performing, go-anywhere luxury tool watches. They are the first new generation of TAG Heuer Aquaracer models with solid gold cases and bezels.
Each of the new models echoes the basic form and design principles of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional collection. More than four decades in the making, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer is a luxury tool watch for the outdoor adventurer that goes beyond the edge.
THE NEW GOLD STANDARD: The first TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 models in solid 18-karat gold
This year, TAG Heuer introduces the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200, a pair of 40-mm watches in solid 18-karat gold. One will have a case and bezel in solid 18-karat 5N
rose gold, and the other in solid 18-karat 3N yellow gold.
Despite the precious metals involved, both references remain modern sports watches designed for a life of adventure spent in the great outdoors. Signaling their sportiness, both have a high-contrast black DLC-coated steel screw-down crown and feature a lightweight, black DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium caseback, into which TAG Heuer’s engineers have inserted a sapphire crystal caseback, opening up a view into the new movement. Both watches are water-resistant to 200 meters.
In line with their high-end profile, both TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 models have beautiful gradient dials, again signaling the intense luxury of the solid 18-karat gold cases. The rose gold model has a black dial that fades elegantly into a bronze-tinted gray center. The yellow gold variant has a blue dial that shimmers at its center, like the light as one emerges from an underwater cave.
Both dials feature applied, golden-edged hour markers filled with high-grade Super- LumiNova® for clear and lasting low-light visibility. The hour and minute hands are also filled with high-grade Super-LumiNova®, as is the “lollipop” section of the central seconds hand. Both 18-karat-gold watches are set on rubber straps in black or blue to correspond to the dial and are equipped with black DLC-coated Grade 2 titanium clasps.
EXTRA TIME: Introducing the new 80-hour manufacture Calibre TH31-00
Inside both TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 models is a new automatic manufacture movement, created according to the principles of high-end mechanical watchmaking.
It’s called the Calibre TH31-00, and it was codeveloped by TAG Heuer and AMT, a high-end Swiss movement manufacture based in la Chaux-de-Fonds. AMT produces and assembles this high-performance movement exclusively for TAG Heuer.
The Calibre TH31-00 offers a number of benefits: It is highly accurate, achieving chronometer certification, which demands an accuracy of –4/+6 seconds a day. It also delivers 80 hours of power – the highest ever to feature in a TAG Heuer Aquaracer powered by a mechanical movement. It also equips the watch with time and date functions.
It is also beautifully finished. The 30-jewel movement’s bridges are decorated with a traditional Côtes de Genève finish, a symbol of the high-end watchmaking principles applied to the development and production of this special movement. The oscillating weight, or rotor, has a new design echoing the famous TAG Heuer shield. In testing, the Calibre TH31-00 performed so reliably that TAG Heuer will apply a five-year extended warranty to any watch that it powers. The Calibre TH31-00 is the latest in a series of high-grade automatic movements developed under TAG Heuer’s esteemed Movements Director, Carole Forestier, and joins the Calibre TH30-00, which was introduced last year in the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 1000 Superdiver, a watch that also comes with a five-year warranty.
KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY: The six features of the iconic TAG Heuer Aquaracer
While these new models elevate the TAG Heuer Aquaracer story, they stay true to the design principles and promises of function that were established back in the 80’s. The blueprint outlined then, as now, was that all TAG Heuer Aquaracer models would have these six signature features: a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, water resistance to at least 200 meters, luminous markings, a sapphire crystal, and a double safety clasp. TAG Heuer Aquaracer wearers have come to rely on these characteristics for their usefulness and reliability.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 models also continue the story of the current generation, defined when the model was relaunched two years ago. They have the same refinements, including the slimmed-down case, immediately recognizable 12-sided unidirectional rotating bezel with its alternating fluted edges for grip and ease of use, the famous horizontal lines running across the dial, and crown protection.
THE GOLDEN GENERATION: The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional collection
Two years since its reincarnation and with the introduction of the core collection TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 models, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional is now a fully formed collection of high-performing sports watches. Refined, elegant, sporty and fully equipped for a life lived beyond the edge, it defines today’s spirit of luxury adventure.
