Swiss luxury watchmaker ZENITH is delighted to announce the grand opening of its first standalone boutique in Bangkok, located at Siam Paragon. Held on May 23, the official opening party drew in watch enthusiasts and VIP guests for an evening of celebration, elegance and horological excellence.
The highlight of the evening was the unique lighting of a star, in place of the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. Benoit de Clerck, CEO of ZENITH, along with Emilie Bruyer, Brand Director of ZENITH SEA; Ong Ban, CEO of Sincere Fine Watches; Joseph Wee, General Manager of Pendulum; Tipanat Lenbury, Senior Executive Vice President, Sales & Business Relations of Siam Piwat; and guest celebrity and Thai actor, singer and model Jaylerr joined together to light up a blue star, symbolising ZENITH’s guiding philosophy, “Time to Reach Your Star”.
A collaboration with Pendulum, Thailand’s leading luxury watch retailer, the new boutique transports visitors to ZENITH’s universe, where a central blue element stretches from the floor to the ceiling, paying tribute to a starry night sky. The boutique features a comprehensive selection of current ZENITH collections and boutique-exclusive editions, as well as novelties from the Watches & Wonders 2024, including the highly anticipated DEFY Skyline Chronograph and DEFY Extreme Diver.
Joining the time-only DEFY Skyline launched two years ago, the DEFY Skyline Chronograph houses the El Primero 3600, ZENITH’s latest iteration of the iconic automatic chronograph calibre that beats a high frequency of 5 Hz. Its high-speed chronograph seconds hand also completes one revolution every 10 seconds, allowing for precise measurements down to 1/10th of a second – testament to ZENITH’s 50-odd years of chronograph innovation. With its 42mm-wide stainless-steel case, 14-sided bezel and octagonal case, and engraved starry sky-patterned dial, the DEFY Skyline Chronograph stands out among the crowd.
On the other hand, the ZENITH DEFY Extreme Diver – inspired by the DEFY divers from 1969 onwards – features a 42.5mm titanium case with a helium escape valve, designed for extreme conditions. It boasts a unidirectional ceramic bezel with Super-LumiNova for underwater legibility and is water-resistant up to 600 metres. Powered by the El Primero 3620-SC calibre, it offers a 60-hour power reserve and includes interchangeable straps, including an extra-long one made from recycled fishing nets.
Benoit de Clerck, CEO of ZENITH, expresses his excitement about the new boutique: “The opening of our first standalone boutique in Bangkok is a proud moment for ZENITH. We are thrilled to share our passion for fine watchmaking with the vibrant community in Thailand.”
Joseph Wee, General Manager of Pendulum, shares his enthusiasm: “The opening of the ZENITH boutique at Siam Paragon is a significant milestone for both ZENITH and Pendulum. This boutique not only showcases ZENITH’s unparalleled craftsmanship and innovative spirit but also strengthens our commitment to providing Thai watch enthusiasts with exceptional timepieces and a unique shopping experience.”
