About Breitling
Since 1884, Breitling established a global reputation for high-precision timepieces, with its pioneering role in the development of the wrist chronograph, and its uncompromising commitment to design excellence. All movements are manufactured inhouse, and the quality of every watch is confirmed by its status as a COSC-certified chronometer, made in Switzerland.
The History of Breitling
With the brand’s storied association with aviation, Breitling has shared the finest moments in humankind’s conquest of the skies. Three generations of men changed the history of timekeeping, making Breitling what it is today. Léon Breitling founded the company in 1884; later, he patented a simple timer/tachymeter that could measure any speed between 15 and 150 km/h. In 1915, his son, Gaston, created one of the first wrist-worn chronographs with an independent pusher at 2 o’clock. In 1934, Léon’s grandson, Willy, patented the second independent chronograph pusher at 4 o’clock.
