Maki-e is not the only way to enrich the expression of urushi. “Shibo-Urushi” differs from conventional urushi, creating a unique yet quietly beautiful aesthetic. It uses a viscous mixture of urushi and egg white, where the resulting textures form a distinctive landscape on the dial.
Please note that each Shibo-Urushi pattern varies slightly, as every piece is handcrafted individually.
