TUDOR Unveils Its First Ever Watch With A Moon Phase Complication

The Moon holds a special place in Eastern lore, symbolising harmony, unity, and the enduring bonds of family. It was the perfect inspiration to harness the creative energy within TUDOR’s own family — particularly the multi-talented Jay Chou — to create the first moonphase watch in the collection. Working with TUDOR’s designers, Jay added his own magic to the watch, and the result is as magnificent as a resplendent full moon illuminating the night sky.

Framed by a perfectly polished bevel, the moonphase indicator appears at 6 o’clock on three brand new dials in 39mm stainless steel cases for the 1926: Blue, Black and Jay’s own champagne-colour. The moonphase indicator for each dial is distinct, and Jay’s vision for the champagne-colour model has come to life in a truly fantastical way, with the phantom moonlight gold disc representing the moon hidden behind an inky black cut-out that slowly disappears as the moon waxes and wanes. Made from a block of one of the most robust stainless steels in existence — 316L steel — and highlighted with touches of satin-brushed rose gold, the case on these models is waterproof to 100 metres (330 feet) thanks to its screw-down crown and case back.

The movement — a pinnacle of Swiss watchmaking expertise — is finely decorated despite remaining hidden from view, and is adjusted to the highest chronometry standards in the industry. The hands and embossed dials are crafted by the most meticulous professionals in the field. The metal bracelet, too, distinguishes itself through the exceptional quality of its design, manufacturing and finish.

Together, these elements form the essence of TUDOR quality – a philosophy summarised by the brand’s signature, “Born To Dare”, always striving to do better.

The dials of the 1926 model are a fine example of TUDOR’s thorough attention to detail. Domed for a vintage touch, their delicate design pays homage to TUDOR’s origins. Each dial features appliqué even-numbered Arabic numerals set between faceted, arrow-shaped hour markers. This wealth of detail creates a striking and intricate play of light across the dials, perfectly complementing the sword-shaped hands in matching colours. The moonphase indicator adds a novel touch — a subtle note of poetry that enhances the watch’s timeless charm.

The metal bracelet has always been a key element of TUDOR’s design – it is an integral part of the brand’s aesthetic and practical heritage. The 1926 line naturally features a purpose-made bracelet crafted with comfort, refinement and quality in mind. Composed of seven links of varying sizes, it follows the curve of the wrist with exceptional ease.

Its outer links are satin-brushed while the middle links are polished — a contrast of finishes that enhances the watch’s elegant appearance. Meticulously assembled using TUDOR’s longstanding expertise, the bracelet is both flexible and strong.
